On Saturday, May 23rd, the Arlington Business Partnership presents the 13th Annual Chili Cook Off & Car/Cycle Show on Magnolia Avenue between Jackson Street and Van Buren Boulevard in the Arlington neighborhood of Riverside. This year they are hosting the 42nd Annual California State Chili Championship.
I visited Deborah Macias and Andrew Guerra at the offices of the ABP on a recent May morning to learn more about the history of Arlington's signature event and the Partnership itself.
After 12 successful years there's a definite system to the approach of accommodating 40,000 visitors to Arlington's downtown district. There's a large strategy map on the wall of the conference room and the storage area is organized into sections pre-staged to move out into the streets in the wee hours of the 23rd (they get started around 3 a.m.).
Round up the family and get down to the 13th Annual Chili Cook Off & Car/Cycle Show...bring your appetite and thirst (there will be two beer gardens with all the locals representing) and join the celebration!
